Personally I think its downright rude that Volkswagen lets us know on an ugly day like today you can sometimes even without a roof over your headd drive around perfectly. Do marketing employees have no feelings? Anyway, it is now possible to use a Beetle which can take of the roof. Although, “disappear” is perhaps not the right word because the cap is still clearly visible on the back and the silhouette is not as successful as that of the E-Bugster Speedster concept. And the open roof construction is actually quite ugly and they try to conceal the gallery by a couple models.

Despite the roof, which opens in ten seconds, at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour, there is still a load of up to 225 liters and which could be further enhanced by the equal split-folding rear seat folded down. In the event of a violent accident to prevent the passengers lost their heads directly, there are two “rollover units” that unfold in the event of a failing car.

The Beetle Convertible is available with seven different engines, starting with the 1.2 TSI with 105 hp, also available as a BlueMotion Technology version. The 1.4 TSI with 160 hp and the 2.0 TSI with 200 hp are available. The Beetle Cabriolet is also available with the 1.6 TDI diesel (105 hp with BlueMotion Technology version) and the 2.0 TDI with 140 hp. Depending on the block you choose there is a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG transmission standard. The Beetle convertible is 4200 euros more expensive in Germany than the close variant, which would mean that the Netherlands convertible will start at about 25,500 euros,  exact specs and prices of the Beetle Cabriolet will be announced in March 2013.
