Mercedes’ in-store tuner Brabus has the upgrades for the new SL ready. And these are not only noticeable from the outside. Brabus puts 520 hp and 820 Nm of torque in the SL 500 and this is good for a limited top speed of desired 250, 275 or 300 kilometers per hour and sprint to hundred in 4.4 seconds. To get to decent speeds on the road Brabus seemed wise to make use of a wind tunnel. This caused some changes to the aerodynamics: items are added to the fenders and rear of the car. There are also three types of rims developed which are available in 18, 19 and 20 inches. Together with Bilstein a custom chassis was developed, available on the SL 350. On other models with ABC chassis is a reduction of 25mm available, and if desired, a 40% Limited Slip Differential can be fitted. For a little extra noise a stainless steel exhaust system is available. As always, the interior can be greatly tweaked. |
